Determine a wall’s paint color in seconds
Moving into a place with no paint records, or trying to touch up a wall you painted years ago? You need an app to determine paint color without guesswork. Color Identifier is that app to determine paint color: point your iPhone at the surface and it names the shade and shows exact codes on screen, no fan deck required.
How it works
- Open Color Identifier and pick Live Camera or From Photo.
- Aim at a clean, well-lit patch of the wall, or tap a point in a photo of it.
- Read the color name plus its Hex, RGB, CMYK and Pantone values.
- Save the reading to a palette.
For a clean reading:
- Use even light — bright, natural light beats a single lamp casting shadows.
- Avoid glare — keep reflections off glossy paint.
- Take a couple of readings — weathered or uneven walls can vary spot to spot.
From codes to a matched can
An app to determine paint color hands you codes rather than a label, which is more flexible than it sounds. The values are universal, so you can take them to any shop and find the closest match in any brand. Save the reading first and the codes are waiting whenever you head out to buy.
