Match paint from a photo you already have
Sometimes the wall you want to match isn’t in front of you — it’s in a picture on your phone. Color Identifier lets you paint match by picture: open any image, tap the surface, and the app reads that exact color and gives you codes you can take to a shop. No need to drive back to the room with a chip in hand.
How to paint match by picture
- Open Color Identifier and choose From Photo.
- Load the picture of the wall, furniture, or object.
- Tap the precise point you want to match.
- Read the Hex, RGB, CMYK and Pantone codes and save them.
The eyedropper is what makes it possible to paint match by picture so precisely — you choose the exact pixel rather than letting the app guess at an average.
When a photo is all you have
- A rental you photographed before moving out.
- A friend’s room whose color you loved and snapped.
- A magazine or catalog page you captured for inspiration.
Once you paint match by picture, the codes are universal, so they match the closest shade in any brand’s range wherever you buy. Save each reading to a palette so a color you spotted once is ready when you finally pick up a can.
